Hey Batter, Batter!!!

For FHE we went to some batting cages for some fun and also so Will could get some batting practice in before his game on Saturday.
The got to pick out a helmet and they gave us two kid sized bats. Sasha's was purple! YES! Love that color! Seth's was green and matched his shirt!!

Sasha was amazing! I think we have found her sport. She has never shown interest in soccer or dancing, but she was hitting that ball like crazy and I was cheering like a crazed fan! She is so strong and athletic! Go, girl!!

Addie wore the helmet but did not want to bat! Maybe next time....

Hee, hee hee! Seth was so darling! He was swingin' that bat like no tomorrow and Will was in the cage with him trying to help him and 'bout got hit a time or two! Seth had a huge grin on his face the whole time he was batting! Cute!

Baseball is Will's sport and he hit every single pitch. We can't wait to see him play on Saturday! I didn't bat this time; the kids had more fun than we thought they would and soon our tokens were all used up! We are going back for one more round sometime this week! Super fun night! (And cheap, too! $8 for 5 tokens. Each token gives you 25 pitches.)

What do you do on a Sunday afternoon?

Making sugar cookies was what Sasha wanted to do today after church. How could I refuse? I LOVE sugar cookies. Baking with all that flour can be a bit messy...................

Here are our creations. I made the frosting a wee-bit runny. **Sigh**, making frosting is quite complicated, you know. But, here is the thing, the kids are all into it at first, and then suddenly, I realize I am alone in the kitchen, frosting cookies. It was their idea, and they lose interest way before the final cookie gets adorned. (Yes, those are ghosts, gingerbread men, and a candy cane. Yes, I know it is July.) But, I must say, I had fun with that runny frosting and created some cool lookin' cookies. Can't wait to eat them for breakfast tomorrow. Did I say that out loud?

I am having flashbacks to the 80's, are you? I think I had a shirt or two that resembled these cookies. Awesome.

"Mom, can we play with the camera?"

I had forgotten that Sasha asked me if they could play with the camera the other day. I uploaded some beauties and had to share!

The one is actually darling of Sasha Belle. I quite like taking pictures of myself like this. (See all my facebook profile pictures to verify.)

Ok, there was about 15 of Casey, but this one takes the cake...................Can you believe that this dog has never, ever once nipped at my kids. They do this kind of stuff to him all the time.

I am kinda dizzy after looking at this one...........

Hee, hee, hee!

I saved the best for last. Love it, Sasha.
Well if you have been wondering what we have been doing this summer, this about sums it up. Ha ha ha! Actually, we have been doing a few things here and there: swimming, watching movies at the Kaysville Theater, getting Slurpee's, eating Popsicles on the porch once the sun starts to set, staying up super late every night, eating $5 subway foot-longs (I don't like cooking in the summer), renting Red Box movies, and basically just hanging out and enjoying the lazy flip-flop days of summer. (I have that saying on a sign on my front door. It is my favorite.)
(Girls camp rocked. It was amazing! I survived.........I knew I would!)
One last thing: I found a new author worth checking out: Angela Hunt. She is writing as a part of a the Women of Faith group, so her books talk about the Savior and her characters believe in him. She is not LDS, in case you are wondering, and her books are quite good. They are clean, well-written and thought provoking. I checked out the one entitled The Pearl and read it in two days. I went back and got another one of hers entitles The Debt and read it in a day. They are easy to read and I really enjoyed them both. I am working on a third right now.......
Well, happy summer...........enjoy it while it lasts!! :)

I am going to Girls' Camp....

I leave in the morning. Not early. Good thing. I have been sleeping. in. a lot. lately!! You're supposed to in the summer, right?

Seth is sick. I was sick all last week. I hope nobody else gets sick while I am gone. It is so hard to leave your family when they are sick. Poor Will.

I am excited but also nervous, I guess. I hope the girls have fun. I hope we remembered everything that matters. I hope they grow spiritually and grow more unified with eachother. I hope I get. some. sleep.!! I hope the girls like our totally embarressing dance\skit we have been working on. Oh dear. Help me!

Sasha wants to come, too. She came into my bathroom tonight just before bedtime, and with tears in her eyes, told me she hoped I have fun and that she will miss me. A lot. She is just about the sweetest thing ever. I don't think Seth nor Addie will notice I am gone. Ok, I am sure they will, but I am sure no tears will be shed over it!

Well, off to bed I go! Off to camp in the morning...........

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

Today was Will's birthday! He wanted to see the Wolverine movie, but it isn't really a family movie, so he went alone. When he got back, the kids and I surprised him with a cake, balloons, and presents eventhough he told us all morning he didn't need anything special today. Whatever!! We opened presents and went to dinner at "Dragon Hill"! YUMMY! Cake and icecream, of course followed that! I hope it was a great day, Will. LOVE YOU to pieces!! (To read the captions, you have to put your mouse on the picture. Not sure I like this slide-show, but it is one I haven't tried yet.)

Having fun on the 4th!!

Here are some things that we did on the 4th. We went to the parade in Layton and loved it! Afterwards we went to the booths at the park and had a great time.

We are ready for the 4th....

The girls and I painted our nails today while the power was out!! PERFECT!! Oh, if you ever need something to entertain the kids with, get out some tole paints and have a face painting party. You, know like they do at fairs and such. Sasha is quite good. She is quite the artist. I didn't get a picture in time.....they already washed it off. Addie's foot still shows some of her artwork. Stinkin' awesome. Have good day tomorrow! Happy 4th of July Weekend!
Oh, I did mention the power was out today for about an hour. I came home from the store and couldn't open the garage. My neighbor came and told me the power was out. Oh, ok! Seth was kinda worried about it and said "Mom, I 'fink' we need find a new house!" and also said "Mom, do the toliets still work?". Yes, thank heavens. He still wanted to find a tree outside. Boys!! What do ya do?

Sum-sum-summertime

What we have been doing so far this summer:
We went to the zoo with Papa Burt and had a ball! The animals were out and about so we got to see them! :)

Seth and Addie had to climb on everything that could possibly be climbed on. Grandpa got such a kick out of it. It was wonderful to see him again, can I just say?! Love you, Dad.

Here we are at the Syracuse Founders Day Parade! We just had to walk through the block to 2000 West to get there! It was perfect! We were at the start of the parade so the kids totally scored tons of candy!

Here comes the parade. I always get choked up as the flag passes and everyone puts their hand on their hearts. It is just such a neat thing. I sure do love this country. Don't you?!

Here comes the candy! Check out Seth's "Ninja Robe"!! LOL! He found it in the dress-up bin and has been wearing it since. I got it when I was a kid from someone! Yikes, I can't remember. Anyway, it has Japanese (I think) writing on the front, so Seth concluded it is a ninja robe. Sounds good, Bud. Knock yourself out.
It was a great Saturday morning. Now what shall we do to celebrate the 4th...............hummmm?? What are you doing?? Do share.
We also went to the Roy Pool this week and I got myself an mighty nice sunburn. Brilliant, I know. I tried the new areosal sunscreen and I must say and am not impressed. I burned more than usual and my kids got a little burned, too. It doesn't work as well as the lotion kind and I put it on several times that day. The kids brought their own money and had a blast buying what they wanted from the concession stand. I did pitch in and help them a little; their quarters didn't last too long! They each got their own nachos and Seth told me "This is the best day of my life!". Nachos bring out those kind of feelings for me, too! Addie ate 1-and-a-half hot dogs, entirely by herself much to my surprise. I turned about to have a bite of her dog, and she has eaten it all. We made several trips to get popsicles and that was pretty awesome. We haven't done much this summer so we went all out and had a ball that day. We went down the slides a bunch of times, with Addie on my lap. I have decided that I could go to a pool each day of my life during the summer and be completely content. Especially if they have lots of nachos.
Happy summer, everyone......
