Just wondering if any of you have
some things that work in your
family for controling TV time
and computer game time
for the little kiddos in
your home.
What have you tried?
What works?
What didn't?
Many thanks!
p.s.
Happy Columbus Day!
We are a family of 7 who loves to laugh and tries to enjoy the journey......

I make Kallie set the timer for 20 mins. When it goes off she has to set it again and read for 20 mins. Then she starts all over again. I figure if she reads in the middle it's not as damaging on her brain :)
PS...thanks for the brownies! What a nice surprise.
We lock our TV. Don't know if you have that capability (Dish Network DVR) but that works awesome....cause they have to ask me to watch a show and I enter a password. I know what show and when it is over, it goes back to a password screen so they have to ask again, and can't watch something I don't want them to! We also don't do video games on school days....so that helps. Man, I sound like an ogre of a Mom reading back through this....but it keeps the peace and helps to keep them from filth on the tube! Good luck!
This is something that I worry about a lot. We have told the kids that they only get 1 hr. a day for "screen time". Sometimes it is hard to control though. We do pretty good most days. I just hate being the TV/Nintendo/computer police. Winter time is going to be a lot harder but the kids realize that they have to find other things to do to occupy their time and it ends up being really good!
